Project Description
Get your hands dirty and help us grow fresh food for our community! Join us at the Food Bank Farm in Orangevale to spread compost, install single drip lines, cut holes in ground cloth, and plant delicious veggies in our newly expanded lot. It's a fun, hands-on way to make a real difference!
Coordinator Updates
Thank you all for signing up for the farm extension project on Big Day of Service! We're expanding into the lot next door to the farm off of Orangevale and Main Ave and giving our hard squashes and pumpkins more room to sprawl. The day of we will spread compost and fertilizer and have it tilled in. We'll be setting up drip irrigation, laying out weed barrier between furrows and punching holes in the weed barrier for the in row crops. Last but not least we will plant our winter squashes and get them off to a great start in their season!
The farm does have gloves if you don't have/bring any, but wearing a hat is highly recommended. Please ensure you wear close toed shoes and bring your energy with you! It's going to be one heck of a day! I'll reach out again with additional details as we get closer to the date. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Important Information
Be sure to join us at 7:30am on Saturday, May 16th for the Big Day of Service Kick-Off Rally at Bella Vista High School! Everyone will start here - check in, pick up your volunteer T-shirt, enjoy breakfast burritos and Community Fair, and an inspiring Kick-Off Rally with 1,000+ volunteers! We’ll head out to project sites around 9:30am, with all projects wrapping up by 2:00pm.
